Always Looking Up

because the sky is not the limit

What is the Sky Club?

We are a non-profit organization organized by TNSA and run by its leadership in collaboration with a member-led council. We are a sky focused social group that meets for sky/star gazing, recreational drone flying, and more. We are all about the sky and beyond. Drones, telescopes, music, food, fun, and of course like-minded individuals to interact with-No party is like a Texas Sky Club party.

SKY Parties

Like traditional "star parties" but we gaze at more than just the cosmos here. We admire the day sky, the night sky, weather, stars, the moon, drones, telescopes and the art of capturing all that beauty. We organize our SKY Parties to be inclusive of all the above. Join us for some fun under the sun and moon!

First Half

A sky party gathering is generally about 2-3 hours long. The first half, known as "Below 400", and is primarily organized for drone pilots. During this first half, our drone enthusiast members gather to fly in a safe and respectful manner for the purpose of having fun, showing off skill, and maybe learning a few things from each other. We even have at least one FAA licensed part 107 Remote Pilot at each gathering. This individual is open to questions regarding becoming a remote pilot for commercial purposes and can even help with training. We have music, drinks and food for our members. This first half runs until the end of Civil Twighlight (30 minutes after official sunset).

Second Half

The second half begins immediately after Civil Twilight and transitions from low altitude to extremely high altitudes. We change gears from drones to telescopes and the mood slows down a bit. For an additional hour after Civil Twilight, we gaze at the stars, discovering the cosmos and learning more about the universe together. Low light conditions are best for these events, and we try to find new locations across our beautiful state for our SKY Parties. Details are shared on our website and social media, and members have access to our chat room. We plan our events at least 30 days in advance so our attendees can have plenty of planning time.

Each attendee is responsible for their own technologies, devices, etc. and are expected to follow respect all FAA laws and regulations. Absolutely no night flight (after Civil Twighlight) of drones. Keep all flights within a visual line of sight. The Sky Club council reserves the right to ask any attendee not respecting the rules to leave the area reserved for the event. Our events are schedules with the FAA, so a NOTAM is generated to alert pilots in the area of our events. We also partner with law enforcement to ensure our events are within city code and protected. If you have any requests, please contact Sky Club leadership.
